"Line- 1 The lykiarkhes here is of Arykanda ancestry, but
he was also a naturalized citizen of Myra. The Arneaians honored him for
improving the financial situation of their city during his tenure as curator
rei publicae/λογιστής. Pamphilos'
union priesthood apparently predates this position, which is rarely
documented in Lycia1. The Arneai inscription (TAM II 771) reads in full:
Αὐρ(ήλιον) Πάν[φι]λον
Ἀπολλω|νίου
[Πίγ]ρητος
Ἀρυ|καν[δέα
κ]αὶ Μυρέα

Ἀλεξάνδρου. The complement
Πάν[φι]λον seems more appropriate
than the less common name Πάν[κα]λος,
which was guessed by Kalinka.
Line- 3 Πίγρης is a popular local name in
Lycia" (Tüner Önen, 2008:339) |
